ELO-P After School Care

About ELO-P

The Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) Program, ELO-P, provides funding for before school, after school, summer and intersession academic and enrichment programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional and physical needs and interests of pupils in grades kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) through sixth grade through hands-on, engaging learning experiences.

According to the California Department of Education and legislation surrounding this initiative, expanded learning programs are student-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.

There are several components in these grant-funded Expanded Learning Programs:

  • Educational and Literacy Component that includes tutoring/ homework assistance in the core subjects (language arts, math, history/ social science, and science)
  • Educational Enrichment Component that offers students engaging activities in a variety of areas which may include visual and performing arts; physical activity; career technical education; prevention and intervention strategies; science, technology, engineering, and math; and more
  • Nutritious snack or meals offered daily that meet requirements in CA Education Code Section 49430
  • RAFOS’ Expanded Learning Opportunities Program Plan

What Does This Mean for You?

Depending on eligibility, as detailed below, the funding may mean that beginning in the 2023-24 school year, American River Collegiate Academy will be able to provide your child(ren) with before school, after school, summer and intersession academic and enrichment programs at no cost or reduced cost.

 How Is Eligibility Determined?

Fee is waived for students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, are experiencing housing instability, or are foster youth.

Students who do not qualify based on the above criteria may still be able to enroll for a fee, depending on financial need and availability.  Financial contributions will be determined once you complete a Free or Reduced Lunch Program application for the 2023-24 school year.  Please complete the form and submit to [email protected].

HOW DO I ENROLL MY STUDENT?

Please complete a new interest form for each of your children as well as the Free/Reduced Lunch Form for your family and submit to [email protected]. Official registration and offers of enrollment will occur once both items are submitted.

Please note: Students will be enrolled on a first come, first serve basis.  When capacity is reached, a wait list will be kept and students will be added as capacity and staffing allows.
